I'm writing about my son. He will be 9 in August. At times he is a very happy compassionate loving child. At school he violently erupts (his description is that there is a volcano inside him that explodes) and becomes a danger to himself and to staff. He is frequently suspended form school. He seems unable to deal with any change in his routine. His school staff is convinced that he has ADHD. I question this because when he is "stable" he has no difficulty concentrating, and is able to absorb vast amounts of information, he is able to do his school work seemingly without effort. However he is very moody and his moods seem to swing drastically. I'm wondering about bipolar disorder. Any suggestions? He will be having a neuro/psychological exam on 4/15.
