Question:
Dear Dr. Heller,
Hello. I am just writing you this e-mail to ask a
couple of questions.
What if you suffer from depression, but you don’t want
to tell or concern anyone?
What if you know you suffer from depression, but you
don’t take medication. Is there a way to fix it?
Well, I will wait for your response to ask further
questions. Goodbye and have a nice day.
Dr. Heller's Answer:
Intense exercise with counseling can alter depression,
but it usually takes a lot longer than medication.
Depression is a brain disease, as the following picture
shows: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/hotsci/scandep.htm
Depression has enormous health consequences and can
lead to suicide, substance abuse, obesity and medical
illness. It’s not wise to ignore it.
