Question:
My son is on trials of different meds for anxiety/ADHD.
They
are not 100%, and was on Remeron when he started having
really bad dreams but seemed to not wake up until we were
talking to him for 2-3 minutes--looked right at dad and kept
calling him mom. We stopped the Remeron but it continued.
Now we are trying BuSpar and dreams-whatever, started up
again.
It's really scary because his eyes are wide open but he
seems to be dreaming???
Can these meds cause this problem to continue even if he's
not on them?? Also his pupils
seem dilated a lot of the time. What could this be?? He is
5 years old.

It's very, very hard to tell on someone that age. Remeron
does cause bad dreams sometimes. If the bad dreams
continued it probably wasn't the Remeron. It’s highly
unlikely that they are continuing due to the Remeron. If
the dreams are violent, bipolar may be the cause.
Making the correct diagnoses is crucial. The dilated pupils
may be an anxiety, neurological or adrenaline phenomenon. A
thorough neurological evaluation is necessary. There’s more
than just ADHD with some anxiety going on.
