Question:
My son feels he cannot tell between a dream
and reality. He says he gets "FUZZY" and
can't really describe his problem to me. He
has Bipolar and taking Trilipetal, could
his symptom also be BPD? My brother is
schizophrenic and I have BPD (former
self-injury).

Yes, he could be describing dissociation
from the BPD. Dissociation occasionally
happens with bipolar, but usually when the
individual has both bipolar and BPD. He
could be experiencing chronic BPD dysphoria
(anxiety, rage, depression and despair)
with dissociation. If this is the case
after taking Prozac (fluoxetine) for a
week, these symptoms will go away 3 hours
after taking Tegretol (carbamazepine) (or
24 hours if both Risperdal and Tegretol are
needed).
Panic can cause dissociation.
Trileptal is great for bipolar, but rarely
helps with the BPD.
