Dear Dr. Heller,
After reviewing your Website, I answered yes to the following questions:
Attention Deficit Disorder:
Is everything at home and work (or school) in unfinished piles? Do you have a long-standing history of not being able to stay on task? Are you easily distractible? Do you seem to alternate between not staying focused and being so focused that a bomb could go off without you noticing it?
Borderline Personality Disorder:
Are you moody? Are you angry all the time, with spells of rage? Are you empty and bored even doing something you enjoy? Do you get paranoid under stress?
Are you oversensitive to rejection and criticism? Has it always seemed that others find it easy to be happy and you don't? Have you spent most of your life between not quite depressed and not quite happy?
Do you have trouble trusting other people to do things because you're sure they'll mess it up?
Generalized Anxiety Disorder:
Are you nervous more than you're not?
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - OCD:
Do you obsess about something to the point where it interferes with your life? Do you have any ritual behaviors that you can't stop, like washing your hands too much, checking the door lock too much, counting things, etc.?
Also, I have a major addiction to the Internet. Not porn, but just web surfing. I will be late to work because of the net. I don't have friends and my family gets upset because I don't talk to them. I'm always on the net. I also have a masturbation addiction. I'd rather do it than have sex. I have turned down sex to masturbate. I do it several times a day. SEVERAL. Please help me, I'm too embarrassed to talk to anyone face to face. Can you refer me to someone or something? I'm also very broke. I've had two car accidents, both of which gave me bad head injuries. One I was in a coma for awhile.
You are most likely treating your diagnoses with sexual feelings and masturbation.
I'd be highly suspicious that you have a strong fear of intimacy and feel afraid with
the prospect of closeness - and then you masturbate.
Your most likely disorders are AD(H)D, BPD, OCD and generalized anxiety disorder. What I call "fractured enjoyment" (a.k.a. "Depressed personality") may also be present.
Your answers are initially going to come from medication. If those diagnoses are present you'll likely need three medications: BuSpar, Prozac and Ritalin (although there are variations on this). The sequence and timing of medications is often as important as the actual medications. http://www.BiologicalUnhappiness.com/AskDoc/First-Do.htm has information that may be of help to you.
