QUESTION:
Dear Dr. Heller,
My wife seems to constantly make snide remarks every day. She will make a remark, and then walk off. It covers every subject. Home, work, everything. I am beginning to ignore her, but I wonder if she could have a problem. The children (step-children), (hers), are forced to do school work every day. It seems even they are not allowed any down time. Suggestions? She's NEVER happy.
ANSWER:
Of course she can be happy, but she’s got problems preventing it. They are likely a combination of medical, genetic, and thinking processes. The thinking processes get better much more quickly when the diagnoses are made and successfully treated medically.
I strongly encourage her to look at the screening test I use for my patients, and consider showing "Biological Unhappiness" to her. Life can be made much, much better. We are not designed to be unhappy. I strongly recommend you read "Happiness is a Choice" by Barry Neil Kaufman so you can help her through leading by example.
