Should The Zyprexa Be Stopped?
QUESTION:
Dear Dr. Heller,
My son (20 years old) was diagnosed bipolar and has been taking Zyprexa
(10mgs a day-1 morning 1 night) since December. He has not had an
episode since the initial one. He has two concerns:
(1) decrease in libidoWould this change if the dosage was lowered? Or, should he consider changing medication?
(2) not "feeling" really happy or really sad.

ANSWER:
Many individuals complain that they lose feelings on Zyprexa. If
that's the case there are many other options from other antipsychotics
like Seroquel or mood stabilizers like Depakote and lithium.
A dose reduction might help.
