QUESTION:
Dear Dr. Heller,
Hello, hope this letter finds you well. I will try to be brief, as I'm sure you are very busy. I am schizo-affective and bipolar according to DSM 4. I do have movements that I cannot control sometimes. Could this be produced by my medications? I take 600mg lithium, 40mg of Dalmane, 200mg of Sinequan, 40mg Protonix and blood pressure medication. I also drink about 10 beers a day. Does this combination have anything to do with my involuntary motor skills? I was recently hospitalized because I had a seizure for lack of alcohol.
Any advice from you will be more than appreciated.
ANSWER:
The alcohol could be contributing mightily to your problem, particularly interacting with Dalmane. Lithium can cause tremors. Rarely so can Sinequan.
