Q. I Take Tegretol and it has helped my mood swings. But about a month or so ago. I broke out in a skin rash on both arms and legs. It goes away for a few days and then breaks out again. Now I get hives. I really don’t want to stop taking this drug. I’m allergic to 42 medications. I’m currently taking Celexa, Xanax, Synthroid, and Desyrel.
A. If you continue to take Tegretol and the rash goes away, you probably don't have an allergic reaction.
As with everyone else, you need a thorough diagnostic evaluation and complete medical treatment plan. You might want to pay special attention to the generalized anxiety disorder, OCD, and panic disorder.
