We have never had this problem until now, after my wife’s last visit to the hospital, she has suddenly become a nymphomaniac. how is this possible? she’s had bpd for 5 years now, and never thought of having sex more than once a wee before, now its 4 times daily, at least! in addition, she now wants multiple sex partners at the same time. this is NOT my wife, hats causing this change?
A. First I don't know anything about your wife, her diagnoses, or her history - including what she has told you.
Three explanations that would fit this story include...
1) manic episode - when experiencing mania an individual can behave very inappropriately, often based on deep seated dreams and thoughts.
2) BPD - where she has become chronically dysphoric - where this wasn't the case before. Under chronic dysphoria, borderlines may behave in ways they wouldn't normally behave.
3) medication or medical problem causing distortion of reality.
