Q. Dr. Doctor:

Yesterday I had read some of the Q & A's on this site, a one person caught my attention by writing that they were having a hard time getting up in the morning, and that they bit their lip and picked their pimples.

This situation is one of my own. While being diagnosed as BPD about 4 years ago, I was treated with paxil. I have been taking it for 4 years, and currently take 40mg a day.

My question is, although I take this medication, why am I still finding it so very difficult to get up and go.

This scares me.

A. There is likely more going on than Paxil alone can treat. SSRI's like Paxil and Prozac can actually worsen anxiety related symptoms if the generalized anxiety disorder is present, unless the individual is also treated with BuSpar. Sometimes chronic dysphoria - anxiety, rage, depression and despair - requiring an epilepsy medication like Tegretol is the problem.

I encourage you to investigate all the diagnoses that may be present.
