Q. Hi,
After reading everything I can get my hands on regarding BPD, I personally have found that I fit the bill. I am 38/F. I have not been diagnosis. by a Dr. I am currently trying to find one in the Memphis area.
My question is this,
Would my Mother dying of MS and my Father dying of Lou Gehrig's disease have any bearing on the neurological aspect of BPD?
A. While doubtful there is a possible link...
Many experts suspect both MS (multiple sclerosis) and ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis - Lou Gehrig's Disease) are infectious diseases, likely viral and possibly a herpes virus. MS in particular and ALS occasionally are aggravated by stress.
It has become clear that anger, depression and anxiety impair the immune system and increasing the risk of viral infections.
This suggests, but in no way proves, that at least one of your parents may have an anxiety or anger based disorder that may have triggered or aggravated their condition.
I recommend you review the "screening test" on my website www.biologicalunhappiness.com and get some clues regarding possible additional diagnoses. The BPD rarely exists by itself.
