Q. Is BPD recognized in the UK?
While inquiring about suspicious symptoms that I thought were related to ADD I encountered a lot of skepticism in the UK over the existence of ADD - is the same true for Borderline Personality Disorder in the UK?
And is this also a problem in the US?
A. While I'm not knowledgeable about the UK, the scientific research clearly shows that the BPD is also in the UK - and all over the world.
Knowledge about the BPD and ADD is expanding much more rapidly than many mental health professionals are able to keep up with.
Many individuals are skeptical, but the leading authorities aren't. The facts are there.
I recently had a patient see me from out of town, treated for 12 years for the BPD, and no one ever identified the ADD.
