Dear Dr. Heller,

I don’t think I can find the right words to express my thanks to you for embracing my daughter and her illness. I recognize our journey to Florida as a balm to our spirits. What a profound relief to not have to beg, cajole, or try to prove a point that no one in six years cared to listen to. You personally have inspired me to do something that will help the public at large cope with what is known today as "mental illness." As soon as I regain my energy, I may surprise you!

I hope what I say next doesn’t scare or offend you, but I wish you were my best friend. My daughter is back at school struggling to catch up with her academics and resurrect relationships with her peers. I have spent many phone calls to her college begging for patience because my daughter has been so ill. Just in the past week have I been able to go to sleep and then wake up without thinking about my daughter, our visit to you, and the road back to optimum health. Again, I can’t adequately express my gratitude. I hope to get her back for a recheck in the near future.
